Antique footed Japanese cloisonnÉ incense burner
Cloisonné is the art of applying enamels of all colors to the surface of a metal object, separated by fine soldered/glued wires, which is then fired to become a beautiful work of art. This technique reached its perfection as a result of the efforts of Chinese and Japanese artisans.

Antique footed Japanese cloisonné incense burner. This very unusual piece has a great amount of gold fleck in the dark green background of the body, adding to its rarity and value. The dimensions are 3 1/2" wide by 4" high (including the "artichoke" finial lid). The burner is in excellent condition, as there are no dents or damage to the cloisonné surfaces, including the delicate open lid (some of the medium blue enamel inside the lid is missing, but the lid is otherwise fully intact and undamaged). The interior is medium blue "orange peel" enamel. Circa late 1800's. LTFL price US $475 |
