Chronoswiss was founded by German-born Gerd Lang, whose obsession with the mechanism of time led him to start his own watchmaking company in 1983. For decades, Lang restored exotic chronograph movements and even upgraded the already exquisite pieces to include further complications, garnering him the nickname of “Mr. Chronograph.” The debut of a regulator watch in 1988 stunned the world, with its distinctive time display that had previously been seen only on clocks and pocket watches.
